What cause's Athlete’s Foot?
Athlete's Foot is a contagious fungal infection of the skin occurring mostly between the webbed spaces between toes. Fungus thrives in warm, dark, humid conditions, so often lives in gym showers, by the pool and even in your shoes.
Skin becomes dry and red with a fine scaly coating, which may be itchy and sore. Skin thickness may also increase and become cracked, causing it to bleed.
What cause’s Fungal Nail?
Fungal Nail occurs when the nail structure becomes infected by fungus, which feeds off the keratin in the nail. It is often caused after the nail has experienced trauma, creating a cavity for these bodies to invade.
The nail becomes thickened and discoloured (yellow, brown or white). It may become brittle, causing the nail to crumble and separate from the skin, and can result in discomfort when wearing shoes.
